More 4 Monkey helps your child practice her intuitive sense of quantity, or "number sense." "Which plate has more grapes?" If you can answer this question without counting, you are using your intuitive sense of quantity, or "number sense." Research has shown that children with a stronger number sense tend to perform better on math tests, but until recently there was little evidence that improving number sense could improve math skills. A 2016 study from Johns Hopkins University asked 5-year-olds to compare quantities and measured their performance on a symbolic math test immediately afterwards (Wang et al., 2016). Children who played a version of the game that started easier and became harder demonstrated better math performance (on tests of counting, number identification, addition, etc.), when compared to control groups that received the training in a different order. More 4 Monkey was inspired by the research on number sense and its link to math performance. The app is adaptive so that it continually challenges your child's number sense.
